International Logistics Manager

The Global Supply Chain Team is responsible for the operations and strategic direction of transportation and distribution of merchandise through J.Crew's multi-channel supply chain.  The International Logistics Manager will be responsible for day-to-day tracking, reconciliation, and exception reporting related to the movement of our goods throughout the International portions supply chain.  They will manage our Global imports, collaborating with our expansive vendor base and our Global Logistics Provider and our partner carriers to transport these goods via a variety of modes to various destinations worldwide.  The International Logistics Manager will also collaborate closely with our Production and Sourcing Teams to ensure we continue to provide the most efficient, cost effective, and flexible Logistics network as our sourcing locations evolve and change


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with overseas vendors to manage import activities in order to meet service level expectations.

  • Develop and implement KPIs for all aspects of International Logistics, to ensure timely and cost effective shipment of our goods.

  • Monitor lead times with respect to Logistics and develop accurate and timely methods to call out exception POs when transit times exceed expectations.

  • Assist in managing shipment and custom activities for import services.

  • Maintain good relationship with vendors and service providers to improve overall business performance.

  • Work with vendors to identify and eliminate logistics obstacles to ensure safe and timely shipping of products.

  • Develop standard operating procedures and scheduling/shipping practices for efficiently carrying out logistics activities.

  • Negotiate sea and airfreight rates and contracts with carriers.

  • Inform cost changes, shipment issues, supply concerns to respective personnel and team in timely manner.

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, material flow improvement, and business development.

  • Create and maintain detailed financial reporting on all import activities including order management, logistics and shipping.

  • Ensure that logistics systems are operated in accordance with local, state and federal customs laws.

  • Ensure that logistics activities are in compliance with United States Customs and Border Protection regulations.

  • Recruit, lead and train staff in inventory management and shipping processes.

  • Develop and monitor international routing instructions for suppliers.         


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (or equivalent work experience)

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience with focus on project management, cross functional implementation, and supply chain operations

  • Supply chain management, customs, 3PL, and retail, especially fashion/soft lines, experience a plus

  • Microsoft Office skills required with strong Excel and Access skills preferred

  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
