Cost Accountant

Job Summary (Primary Function)
Guthy Renker is seeking an experienced Cost Accountant with strong emphasis on manufacturing or assembly processes. The chosen individual will be responsible for developing costing models for fulfillment and logistics operations using generally accepted accounting principles and in accordance with company directives. They will also assist in the monthly billing process.
Cost Accounting and manufacturing or assembly experience is required.

Job Responsibilities(Essential Functions)
Accumulates, maintains, and develops standard cost data and costing models for Fulfillment operations.
Coordinates with Fulfillment teams to collect and analyze changes in production processes, product configuration, and requested services to determine effects on cost
Reports, investigates, explains daily/weekly/monthly variances to standard and provides periodic margin analysis for distribution to management
Coordinates with Fulfillment teams to prepare cost estimates for new or proposed services
Assists in month end close by compiling billable data for AR
Researches and analyzes management questions and resolves issues.
Travels as needed.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance, meets deadlines, and adapts to change

Job Requirements (Evaluation Factors: Skills, Knowledge, Experience, and Ability)

1. SKILL

Education/Knowledge

Bachelor's degree in Finance / Accounting, or equivalent experience.
CPA, CMA, MBA preferred.
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
Excellent organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Advanced knowledge and competence in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) required.
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of people including management staff to ensure successful outcomes of planned initiatives.
Strong collaborator and team player.

Experience

Experience: 4-7 years' experience in cost accounting and financial analysis, with a strong emphasis on manufacturing or assembly processes
Requires twelve months on the job to become minimally proficient
Advanced skill in Excel and accounting software systems

2. INITIATIVE

Complexity of Duties

Requires specific knowledge of company policy and application and overall general knowledge of company operations. Duties require considerable initiative, judgment and analytical abilities. Difficult work on highly complex or involved projects, presenting new or constantly changing problems. Adept at time management, meeting deadlines, researching, analyzing and determining root causes of problems and working to implement workable solutions. Work subject to audit.

Supervision Received

Works under general supervision from the Manager of Finance and SVP of Fulfillment Services.

3. EFFORT

Responsibilities for Accuracy

Errors could result in very serious losses such as loss of contracts or clients resulting in excessive costs or losses over an extended period. Duties may involve the evaluation of data for making recommendations on which top management bases important decisions.

Contact with Others

Requires contact with Senior Management where a high degree of diplomacy and judgment is required.

Confidential Data

Works with and has access to a high degree of confidential data such as operating and financial reports, customer information, and salary information.

Mental and/or Visual Demand

Normal but consistent visual attention and mental alertness required in all phases of job.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment

Computer work, meetings and detailed review of reports requires sitting 75% of the time. Work requires sitting, standing, and light lifting in an office setting.
Normal alertness required in performance of work.
